“Soul of a Nation: Art in the Age of Black Power” opens today.
Please join us for an Exhibition of Adger Cowans and Kimberly Joy. The Firm Art Gallery will bring artwork from special collections from “Soul of a Nation: Art in the Age of Black Power”, featuring work by Adger Cowans that was created over two revolutionary decades in American history. This previous exhibition was organized by Tate Modern in London. This Exhibit explores what it meant to be a Black artist in America during two revolutionary decades, from the 1960s and the Civil Rights movement to the early 1980s and the emergence of identity politics.
“Duality and Abuse” by Kimberly Joy deals with the self-quality or state of having two different or opposite parts or elements. The three divisions of the psyche in psychoanalytic theory that is completely unconscious and is the source of psychic energy derived from instinctual needs and drives i.e., the idem, ego, and the superego.

Members of the Quest come from different backgrounds, races, places, sexualities, and walks of life.
